Backpackers and those who travel often and far are always trying to figure out a way to pack a smaller bag. They buy special bags and backpacks that organize their gear more efficiently. The backpacker will buy items that double for other items and upgrade to lighter stoves and tents. One of the after thoughts for many a camping trip however are the dishes and utensils. "Oh yeah I need to pack a spoon and a bowl!"
December is all about finding unique gifts that will crack a smile on the recipients face. The Fozzils Solo Pack is just that. A way to pack a bowl, dish, cup, and spoon all in a space no larger than one standard plate. This set of flat camping dishes transforms from flat sheets of plastic. Using snaps to hold the folded dishes in place reduces the likelihood of a piece coming unfolded while using it. Once you pack your backpack just slide the set into the main compartment along any outside wall.
And if you're looking for lightweight dishes, the entire set weighs in at 4.1 oz. The dishes are also non-stick, odor free, and contain no poisonous BPA. They cleaned up well during testing. A simple swipe of a wet cloth wiped away beef stroganoff... not that I left much on the spoon since that is the best backpacker meal ever. The set is also surprisingly sturdy. I expect them to last several years.
A few words of warning as you transition to flatware from your standard bulkyware. Remember that this plastic is thinner. Hot liquids do make it softer and more pliable. Do not fill the bowls and cups all the way to the rim with hot liquids. That seems like common sense, but it needs to be said. Finally, always snap all the snaps before putting food in the containers. Not snapping all the sides could result in a blowout.
This Fozzils flatware are not just a plain color. They have a fish-fossil design making them slightly cooler. The Fozzils flatware set is the perfect stocking stuffer... as long as you have a very wide stocking. Or if you're struggling for a gift idea the Fozzils dishes are easy to wrap with wrapping paper. Someone will think you got them an old 45 record on first glance.

This is not a bad idea at all. Plus the color is so alive and refreshing. I can't believe these are almost unbelievably flat.
Amazing. So flat and space free. You can even bring it everyday not just camping. Great gift to friends.
