I know many people who either ride their bikes without a helmet because it will screw with their beautiful hair or choose just not to ride because they don't like helmets. I personally know I look ridiculous with mine on, but better to look ridiculous with it on then leave brain matter all over the street.
Fuseproject in New York is attempting to make helmets look a little better. The bmx style helmet can be covered with any number of "skins". I think this attempt is a step in the right direction. Anything that can be done to address the problem of riders not wearing helmets, is a good thing.
