Ok so maybe Old Navy doesn't want you dead, but theirs (and other's) cheap flip flops maybe hurting you more than you think.
"That film of grime that coats your feet at the end of a day of flopping around town is some dangerous dirt. Lab tests of two reporters' flip-flops, worn for four days, revealed a potentially deadly germ - Staphylococcus aureus - lurking on the rubber. If it seeps into a cut on your foot - an entirely common summer affliction - the bacteria can enter the bloodstream and, if left untreated, kill you."
OH LAWZY!!!! Granted this study was done in NYC and yes they have lots of garbage, rats, and hobos on their streets, but in either case I think for the most part if we wear flip flops we are probably safe, especially if we don't wear them day in and day out for 8 months. I'm sure the same results would be shown by just a study of other articles of clothing that we wear each day. I know some of you guys, Wade, don't change your jeans or shorts for days on end and they get pretty gross. Jeans seem to have a better shelf life then say a shirt. Jeans aren't really dirty till you take them off and they can stand up by them selves. That is when you throw them in the laundry. Check the link below for the whole article.

Ha! I can tell just by the smell that this goo in my sandals is toxic. In fact, I just had Rachel here write up an article about how to clean chacos. Check it out http://blog.rockcreek.com/archives/rockcreek_suggests_washing_chacos_once_every_two_weeks.html
