I think I've divulged on this blog before that I'm a jacket-holic. If there is any piece of clothing that I have a fond affinity for, it's the jacket. I admittedly hate cold weather. But one thing I can look forward to during the cooler months is wearing a jacket. I just went around the house and counted; I own 9 currently. That's after purging a few to the second-hand store.
Now that my confession is out of the way, I'll fill you in on the latest jacket in my collection; The Ridgeline.
Merrell Ridgeline Jacket - $99

The Ridgeline boasts Merrell's Aeroblock technology. Aeroblock is a fabric technology that creates a barrier to cold air. Aeroblock doesn't use laminates but creates a breathable fabric that also blocks wind. The material also wicks sweat away very well. This fabric, and the overall design make for a shell that is versatile enough to take out on the trail and stylish enough for your blind date.
The Ridgeline has a few snazzy features that are well worth the mention. The chest pocket has a water resistant zipper and is the perfect size for a cell phone, mp3 player, pda, wallet, or your secret cia shit. The jacket collar is designed to stand up and keep your neck warm and your style just right. It also has a chin guard area that will keep your chin protected as long as you don't have a giraffe neck. The sleeve cuffs are slightly longer on the top than the bottom. Which is nice for keeping your watch from getting wet, and for overhanging your gloves to seal out the cold.
The jacket is a real bargain in these tough times. $99 for a high performance/highly stylized jacket is something you don't see often. And if you buy this month Merrell will donate 5 bucks to the Youth Outdoors Legacy Fund.
