With 08 nearly in our rearview, many of us are looking to 09. Sometimes we may get a little off track late in the year with our diets and exercise routines; it's easy to see why new year's resolutions are so popular. It's a great way to course correct after a fattening holiday season. Every channel you watch and magazine you pick up seems to have the answer for you. Outside recently published an article titled, "Eat This Way". It's a great guide to eating healthy, and that's awesome. But it would be pricey to just go out and buy all those items they suggest. What about those of us on a budget?
We spent about $100 at a Kroger grocery store today. Which I'd say is a median priced grocery chain. We came away with enough food to get us through 2 weeks for 2 active adults. On this trip we bought many of the items on the Outside diet, and supplemented some.
We will most likely be eating lunch out 4 times a week, and dinner 1 time each week. The remaining 32 meals will come from this grocery trip. We already had a base of a few items in our fridge and pantry that will be eaten during this 2 week time frame. So if your house was completely void of food to start you off, you'd need to buy a few extra things.

I got a steamer as a wedding gift and it is great for steaming veggies and rice. You can steam a pot of veggies or rice and take it to work the next few days for lunch or a snack.
great list guys!! We have found that if we get creative on a limited budget amazing things can happen.
Oh and I see you missed rice! We make innumerable meals based on rice from recipes we picked up in central america, cheap and you can make it taste like anything from warm drinks to main courses to desserts. Rice is the wonder grain!!
