Anyone reading this blog knows what ole Indy stands for. And we have come to expect a certain level of adventure and action from the Indiana Jones series that could create serious disappointment if they don’t live up to our expectations. But unlike the Star Wars series that was renewed a few years back Indy doesn’t have any level of disappointment factor.

Before I tell you what you get on this DVD, here’s a teaser…

The 2-disc set for the latest edition to this series will be out on DVD next week, October 14th. It is packed with plenty of extras that will literally keep you watching for hours and hours. It even brings back Marion (Karen Allen), Indy’s original flame. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical if Shia LeBouf would fit into this series, but he did a fine job in the end.

This installment finds Indy in another mess, except this time it’s not the Nazis its the Russians. Cate Blanchett plays his nemesis in this edition and she’s a great bad guy. We all remember her as the beautiful and scary elf-witch Galadriel from from Lord of the Rings. Indy, of course, has to escape many hairy situations, uncover some deep and dark secrets, and get into it with some creepy crawlies. It is classic Indiana Jones. After watching it my wife, a big fan, actually said “I think this was my favorite one so far.” That’s alot coming from her, trust me.

The bonus disc includes the following goodies:

Disc 1

  • The Film (Of course)
  • The Return of a Legend (A tribute to Indy, the creators, and the evolution of the movie)
  • Pre-Production (Animatic sequences, sword fight lessons, reuniting cast and crew)

Disc 2

  • Production Diary (The making of.. very detailed)
  • Pre-Visualization Sequences (The work that goes into creating the action)
  • Galleries (Behind-the-scenes photos)
  • Lego Indiana Jones Demo
  • Trailers

In the end, this is worth the $39.99 if you are a serious Indiana Jones fan. Which I know many of you are. I have to wonder if there will be any more to the Indiana Jones series. I hope there is, but who knows how much longer Harrison Ford will want to jump off moving vehicles.

  1. This movie is terrible…really really bad.

  2. Ok–Lets think about this movie from a different perspective–a feminist perspective.

One of the things that I enjoyed about the movie was the intelligent, powerful female villain, Cate Blanchett, along with a strong female co-lead, Karen Allen.

For once Indy, was not a chauvinistic, female ambivalent love-um and leave-um kind of hero. He had a real heart in this one and that is what female viewers have been craving for a long while.

So maybe this was not your typical Indy flick, but there are those of us who are grateful for that.

  3. Strong females or not, the story was terrible, the action was bad. You see these movies because they are IJ movies. I also think him just banging the female lead 3 movies ago and now seeing his son for the first time doesn’t really leave a good taste in most feminists mouths.
