I’ve Come From a Plane That Crashes on the Mountains
October 9th, 2008 Wade
This coming Monday marks the anniversary of the now infamous 1972 crash of a Uruguayan rugby team in the Andes. Authorities from Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay searched for the plane but couldn’t find it in the snowy mountains. Seventy days later two bearded men in rags were found near a raging river by a shepard. They were on the other side and he couldn’t hear what they were yelling. He threw them a pen and paper and they wrote on it… “We’re from a plane that crashed on the mountains. Fourteen of our friends are still alive up there.”

What those men had to do to survive was grizzly. With no food, and no sign of rescue, they ate the flesh of their dead friends to live. It is an awful, but inspiring story of survival when faced with imminent death.
This story has now been made into a documentary-style movie called STRANDED. The film opens in limited locations on October 22nd. The website for this film has quite a bit of information on the details of the story as well as trailers and where you can see the movie.
The trailer speaks for itself:
