Belgian to Attempt Crossing the Simpson Desert
Admit it, you probably don’t even know where the Simpson Desert is. I didn’t until I heard this story. A Belgian man, Louis-Phillipe Loncke, is about to set out to attempt to cross the Simpson Desert in the central Australian Outback. It is one of the most inhospitable places you could think of for an adventure like this.
How is he going to do this? On foot of course. Pulling a specially designed, two-wheeled cart. He will follow the purple dotted line to the left. (No, there is not actually a purple line across the desert) He chose the North-South route because it would allow him to see places that very few humans have ever seen. He has garnered corporate sponsorship to help him make this adventure a reality.
He is also encouraging people to check out “Art in All of Us” a non-profit organization he is trying to raise awareness for through this journey. “Art in All of Us promotes tolerance with creative cultural exchange activities throughout the 193 UN listed countries, using Art. Inspiring the children around the world is part of our Mission and Itinerary”
He is making final preperations for his trip. You can follow along at his website.
Good luck Louis!
