The Dirty Olympics

Besides what you might think of the dirty Chinese political landscape, these 2008 Olympics are looking to be one of the dirtiest on record. And by dirty, I mean air pollution. China is #2 when it comes to producing the most air pollution. Way to go!
Most everyone has heard by now that China is charged with cleaning up it’s air by the time the Beijing Olympics roll around in a few weeks.
Currently China is trying to curb the pollution by only allowing half of government vehicles on the road. Then on July 20th citizens will only be allowed to drive their cars on the road every other day. This “should”cut the traffic in half. But there is worry that it won’t be enough. The air there is still extremely smoggy, and too thick and polluted to work out in.
The image below, from NASA, shows the amount of pollution visible in China from space. Notice the gray…

With protesters, pollution, and inevitable doping scandals, this will be an interesting Olympics to say the least.
