Day # 29, Saturday, June 7th, Kirksville, MO
We rode 75 miles today and what a ride. We had 148 "Roller Coaster" hills or in Kentucky we call these type of hills "Sling Shots". We rode down the hills at 35 to 40 miles per hour and hoping to crest the next hill with the power just to coast.
Day # 30, Sunday, June 8th, Quincy, IL
We crossed the 2,000 miles mark today, cossed the 7th State line and road over the Mississippi River. Our ride today was 74 miles and lot's of river bottom farming to view.
Day # 31, Monday, June 9th, Springfiled, IL
I had to come off the bike today because of prostatitis. I hopefully will be able to ride again in 4 to 5 days. We have one more day to Champaign, IL then we have a rest day. I have had this issue before and know just to get started on the Ciprofloxacin medication. (I brought the medication with me)
Day 32, Tuesday, June 10th Springfield, IL to Champaign, IL
Today I spend the day in the van driving the course with the riders on their bikes. We offered support and a helpful smile. Everyone said I did a good job! We passed many fields of corn and many streams are out of their banks. Water was standing everwhere. We had a detour because of a bridge that was washed out because of the high water flow.
Day 33, Wednesday, June 11th in Champaing, IL
We are staying in a Drury Inn in a mall area. I see a movie theater and many resturants. I plan to just rest.
