If you live in an area with Hispanic stores or markets, you might be able to find "the sock." Used primarily by Costa Ricans, they're common in Latin America. A sock is a cheesecloth stitched onto a metal wire rim (with wooden handle). You put your ground coffee into the sock; set the sock on the coffee cup rim and pour your hot water into the sock and let it soak the grounds as your final product drips into the cup. It's reusable... washes and dries rather quickly. Very convenient to use.

Have you ever tried some of the instant Asian coffees? Many of them are actually pretty good – I drink them in a pinch around the house now. Anyway, you can find them in many Asian stores or at Packit Gourmet (http://www.packitgourmet.com/). Great substitute for brewed coffee when your out for a few days.

If you dont want to bring extra filters and just use/wash the same one you can use a white nylon potporri bag that's sold at dollar stores.

I've almost bought one of these on several occasions. If you're going to have a Nalgene bottle anyway, this thing only adds 2.8 ounces.

Yeah I do hit Charbucks on occasion. It's more out of necessity than habit. I like supporting the local coffee shop as much as possible. :)

Not bad. I'll have to give it a shot some time. I'm pretty sure I'll be in need of some java since I'm going to be camping mostly with my family. I must admit I must say I'm a bit upset by the fact that you'd even go to "charbucks" but I'll accept it over time. :)
