A coyote attacked a young skier at Copper Mountain ski resort in Colorado last week. The coyote bit the kids parka and had bitten the snowboard of another. The picture above was apparently taken by the childs mother as she watched on. Wildlife officials determined the only way to handle the situation was to destroy the coyote. Officials assume the coyote had been fed by people and turned aggressive when it saw humans as a source of food.
Here's a video interview with the kid, Tyler.

Yep, that's how I would react watching a coyote approach my young son....."ooh ooh where's my camera?"
So, I'm sorry. But I think it ridiculous to destroy an animal after an attack.
If people are responsible about the enviroment that they are playing in, incidents like this would dramaticly decrease....afterall, you're skiing in HIS backyard.
Not to mention the fact that a lone coyote is hardly dangerous.
Ya know, I think it's definitely okay to kill an animal that's attacking humans. It may be his backyard...but it's still an animal. Don't try to humanize it if it's a danger to us. You might feel different if it's your kid that gets eaten. That being said...I think it's ridiculous that people try to feed wild animals because they almost always end up dead. It's a real shame. Some people are idiots.
Seems Darwin was right....
derek thats a pretty rotten argument, just because it's an animal it's ok to kill it ??? don't try to humanize?? man is the biggest danger to man not a 35 lb coyote. I encounter them all the time hiking , biking , skiing, swimming etc and yes sometimes (depending on the season) they can be aggressive if it approaches throw a stick hat, glove whatever and they run off preyy damned quick... By your logic since man is the biggest threat to man we should be able to shoot people we feel are a danger to us ??? I guess that kind of BS argument is OK in Florida and Texas but I live in the Real America and just cause you think an animal is a threat does not give you carte blanch to pick up a gun and kill it . depredation permits should never be issued if the idiots who feel threatened don't knoq how to act when confronted by BIG BAD outdoorzy animals ever issue a damned fine and jail that idiot mother for child endangermnet. great pic but ... hey honey just hold still till I can snap a photo put the idiot in jail already !!!
"His backyard" typical urban hippie comment. Everywhere is the coyotes backyard, including where you live. I've lived with wolves, bears and mountain lions in my backyard; and I consider it a privlage. But if one attacks a human, or livestock it must be killed. Unless was defenceive non-preditory attack. Like a startled momma grizz did on some hikers a couple months ago. No prob with her. Btw, bet the kids mom was a urban hippie too. Only way she'd be so dumb as to let any wild animal approach her kid. Darwin award honorabe mention. ~Go hug a bear~
I ask all the animal haters one question, Who lived on this earth first? I'm sure if they had guns they would think the exact opisit, but what do I know, I'm only human. If I had children, I would educate them about the wild rather than live in denial about the WILD WORLD we live in. If my child was killed because of a bear or a wolf or any animal I would be very sad but I wouldn't take it out on that animal. After all, we were bore with instinks. At least people have the power to chance their ways and views, wild animals don't. We live becide them not the other way around. Anyone who disagrees with this statment should live in space, and leave this world to the people who do beleave.
