Tragedy on Grand Teton
Two climbers fell to their death while climbing 13,770 ft Grand Teton in Wyoming. The accident likely happened Sunday according to officials of the National Park Service. Alan Rooney, 38, and Jonathan Morrow, 28 fell after an apparent anchor failure. It is not clear yet whether the anchor gave way or a rock broke loose. The investigation is still ongoing.
Rooney was an architect living in the area who climbed in the Tetons as well as Alaska and on the big walls of Yosemite.
Morrow was also living in the area and was originally from North Carolina. He had lived in Antarctica on two occasions, climbed in South America and in the US extensively. The two were planning a trip to Peru together for the summer.
Keep the families in your prayers during this difficult time.
