Malaria Awareness Day
April 25th, 2007 Wade
As I posted yesterday, today is Malaria Awareness Day. It only takes $10 to save a life. So, c’mon, spend 3 minutes and save a little kid from dying. Most cases of malaria occur in children under the age of 5 years old.
Here are some things that cost $10, that you could skip this week…
1 Pizza
2 Starbucks Coffees
1 Crappy Movie
3 Gallons of Gas
1 Chinese Buffet

UNICEF is pushing a new mosquito net that doesn’t have to be retreated with chemicals every six months.
Here’s a video report by the AFP on the company making the nets and why they can be so effective:

Use that $10 wisely!

This may be the brand that Malaria No More is using. According to their site and the interview I saw with Ashley Judd, their spokesperson, the nets for $10 last 5-6 years before needing re-treatment.
Neat video, thanks Daniel!
