Australian Paddler Still Lost at Sea
Australian paddler Andrew McAuley was paddling a kayak from his homeland to New Zealand. A 1,600 km trek across open water. According to his family and friends he had meticulously planned the journey. He even turned back on his first attempt when things weren’t going as planned.
McAuley’s kayak was found February 10th adrift at sea, 80 km from his final destination, missing it’s canopy. Search crews are flying grid patterns in the area where the boat was found in hopes of finding him. Hope fades however as the search goes on. Keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. From what we’ve read it looks like he was well prepared for the journey and very experienced.
