Eat Better America, oh, and, dot com

I was told today about a site called eatbetteramerica.com, which provides basic nutritional information for people who want to make smarter decisions about the way they eat and excercise. The informaiton on the site is common sense for the most part. It outlines why anti-oxidant, low fat, and low cholestorol food choices help your overall health. It also gives reccomendations on how to hone in your exercise routine for your specific needs.

The site may be a little slow for some, because it’s heavy on flash animation. I also noticed it is backed by General Mills. You can join up for a membership and receive a free newsletter on nutrition and exercise. I would assume you may also get coupons for General Mills foods in the process.

Eatbetteramerica.com seems to be basic, common sense, food and exercise suggestions with a corporate marketing mind driving the whole thing to promote GM products. But, seriously, America is FAT. So, this has to be a win-win.

Check it out if you’re into nutrition or know someone who may benefit from it.

Keep the families of the missing Mt Hood climbers in your thoughts and prayers…

The body of Kelly James was discovered on Mt. Hood today. He was still in the snow cave that was apparently dug a week ago when the team got into trouble and encountered bad weather climbing the North face of the mountain. James’ partners Jerry Cooke and Brian Hall are still missing. Rescue teams have been pouring over the mountain at every opportunity for the last several days in hopes to find the missing climbers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Kelly James as well as the families of his missing partners. As a climber, it hits home to see a tragedy like this unfold. You never want to see one of your brothers fall. Good mountaineers like these guys always plan for the worst, and hope for the best. But sometimes even the worst is more than you could have imagined it would be.

From all accounts we’ve heard on this story these men did most everything right. They probably could have taken more gear however. Many climbers like to go light and fast on these mountains, but Winter climbs especially take an extra bit of planning and preparedness. The North face of Mt Hood is not for the weekend warrior either. I crossed over the cooper’s spur, which runs up the North face of the mountain a few years back when hiking the Timberline Trail. The trail crosses the spur at 7,000 feet in elevation, and looking up at that next 4,000 feet is daunting, even in Summer. I admire their sense of adventure.

Again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families during their time of need.

Exciting new features!!!

New features are coming soon. These features will allow members to interact with each other a little more, so it should be great.

Our list of features that we want to throw up on the site is very very long. It’s hard for us to decide which features to put on first. Our entire staff of developers, or Lynn as we call her, is overworked at times and Lynn, Wade, and myself want to make sure we spend time on the best features first but also ones that can be knocked out quickly.

So soon, very soon, ODZY Nation new features will be at your fingertips.

holla,

Emile

If you order now, you can have it for Christmas. You may be pushing it for Hannukah, unless you order fast.

And don’t forget, if you’re at a loss for a gift, you could always donate money to a worthwhile charity and give cards to your friends and family telling them you donated on their behalf.
