I’ve had a bunch of stuff going on the past week, so maybe I can get some real work done on the site this weekend. Next up is the registration and forums, so check back soon for an update on that.

I’m currently in the process of researching costs for promotional materials. Hats, T-shirts, Bumper Stickers, Sports Bottles, Wristbands, and even temporary tattoos; all with an outdoor sport and outdoorzy.com theme of course. The costs are minimal when you look at them on an individual item basis. When you begin to add up how many you’ll need and do the math the cost goes up. We will have to be modest and spend our marketing dollars wisely in the begining since we won’t have any revenue streams for some time.
I have requested samples from some of the promotional material vendors. I am also getting sample bumper stickers printed up for a few different designs I have in mind. One of which would be a sticker similar to the stickers you see people have on their back bumper or car window. They are basically the initials of a place they have been…. CO for Colorado, AK for Alaska, etc. There are thousands of variances, you see them in gift shops for almost any place you visit these days. The design I have in mind is ODZY with www.outdoorzy.com underneath in a smaller font size. I received a sample yesterday and it actually looks really good. My only concern is that half the people that see the sticker won’t see the url at first since it is so small. But, on the other hand they may look at it and think “What is ODZY?” and try to get closer. That’s what I do anyway, it’s not the safest form of driving, but I feel like it helps me learn who I’m sharing the road with.
